Firm History

Our History
Over the past 40 years, Lassiter, Tidwell, Davis, Keller & Hogan, PLLC has enjoyed a reputation as one of Nashville’s premier business law firms. Robert Taylor and Thomas Schlater founded Lassiter, Tidwell, Davis, Keller & Hogan, PLLC in 1965 under the name Taylor and Schlater. Robert Taylor was a state senator who was described as the "darling of the legislature." He had the mind of a politician and became a very successful lobbyist following his tenure in the State Senate. One of his significant achievements included successfully lobbying and seeing the end to a 10% maximum cap on interest rates in Tennessee. Thomas A. Schlater was a childhood friend of Bob’s from his school days. Tom was a very accomplished attorney who was known for his ability to successfully try a case even when hired on the day the jury was selected.
Together, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Schlater founded the firm, and before too long added Bill Lassiter and Clark Tidwell, bringing to the firm expertise in corporate law and estate planning, as well as eminent domain law. Years later, Hank Hildebrand joined the firm, bringing with him his expertise in the areas of bankruptcy law, performing arts law and hotel and restaurant alcoholic beverage licensing.
On January 1, 2007, the firm changed its name from Lassiter, Tidwell & Hildebrand, PLLC to Lassiter, Tidwell, Davis, Keller & Hogan, PLLC. Hank Hildebrand remains "of counsel" with the law firm and continues to consult on matters involving bankruptcy, creditor’s rights and asset protection.
Over the years, the firm has continued to build and add attorneys with varying areas of legal expertise, such as tax, real estate, intellectual property, entertainment, estate planning, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, non-profit, corporate and litigation, resulting in a firm capable of giving individualized attention while offering a broad range of legal services.
